LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. That’s what they drill into our brains in the film industry as a crucial part of any project, and boy are they right. This step in the pre-production phase is often not at the top of the priority list; however this step is super important for bringing your story to life. Whether your story takes place in the bustling concrete jungle of New York City or it’s in the quiet countryside of Wyoming; the location of your story sets the mood and tone of your project. Imagine the world of Star Wars, a complex galaxy with tons of different planets, each with its own personality. Now take that exact same story, but make the planets boring, plain, and rather lackluster and you lose the magic of the series. Figuring out where you want your story to take place is vital. That’s why there is location scouting; so you can go to different locations and see which place fits your story best.
So you might be asking, “Beth, what is the point of telling me all of this?” Well, I’ll tell you. At Beyond the Pines Productions, we carefully plan out every phase of your project, including location. We bring a unique process which includes important phases like location scouting. Take for example, a commercial we worked on last year for InnHERwork. There were a lot of locations to take into consideration for this project. We worked closely with our client and collaborated with them on what mood they wanted for their project. In the video, you can see that the client wanted a more cinematic feel to their commercial; so we did just that!
